United States of America

“But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.” Romans 6:22

Hello brothers and sisters at the United States! Thank you so much for reading this Matthew comic. I hope it can be uplifting for you. 🙂

Searching the Internet for USA clothes, I found Uncle Sam’s clothes many times but I wasn’t convinced about drawing it. Next, the Statue of Liberty came to my mind and I drew it. Now, about to post it, I read about it and I just learnt that it represents a Roman goddess. 😛

The Bible shows two conditions: slave of sin (result: eternal death) and slave of God (result: eternal life). Been “free” of one makes us slave to the other one. Only faith in Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection can set us free from sin and its eternal consequence. Freedom of sin through Jesus gives us eternal life and, meanwhile, we ought to obey God — that doesn’t means adherence to a “religious” set of rules (do’s and don’ts) but to know Jesus more each day to be guided by him to live in the freedom he gives us. 😀

Here is a link where you can learn how to gain this freedom through Jesus:

May God bless you all and I hope that the leaders of your country can receive wisdom from God to take good decisions for all of you! I’m a football (soccer) fan and if some of you watch football: congratulations for the Gold Cup win last week. 😉

Mt 19.13-15 The Little Children and Jesus

Up to this point, the disciples of Jesus hadn’t shown opposition in allowing crowds come to him. This time, they didn’t have a welcoming attitude toward the ones who were coming: little children.

We can fall into the mistake to don’t see the importance of the children’s approach to Jesus. Maybe we talk about Jesus to people who we think are more mature, and tell the children to go somewhere else to play as if their presence is just a distraction or interruption. Jesus tells us to let the children come to him.

May God bless you: the one who works with children at church, school or community. You are making a valuable effort and may God give you encouragement to continue and share the salvation Jesus has for them. To the ones in ministries that aren’t focused on children; may God bless your ministry and, in what you serve, try to share time with the kids, show them Jesus’ love and make them feel how important they are to Jesus through the importance you give to them. 😀

Mt 19.1-12 Divorce

Last week in my country, a “march for the family” was done and one of the messages proclaimed was the “original design”: marriage between man and woman; because some sectors are promoting gender ideology, gay pride, gay marriage, etc.

As christians we can defend heterosexual marriage as the “original design” but in the above verses Jesus says that the “original design” also includes staying faithful to the commitment made in marriage and, sadly, we must recognize that in many of our churches we have also deviated of this part of the “original design”. And even if we look at those men who haven’t divorced their wives, in Matthew 5 Jesus says that look at another woman lustfully is adultery so even that is a sin against what God designed. All these shows us that there is no one righteous. We all have failed to God… regardless of whether we are heterosexual or homosexual.

We all need God’s salvation through faith in Jesus. Even if my country remains recognizing as marriage the union between a man and a woman; or doesn’t include gender ideology curriculum at schools; if people don’t know Jesus, they will still not receive salvation… in fact, I would not be surprised that, among those who will spend eternity without God, the majority might be heterosexual.

And you, beyond your stance on topics like marriage, gender ideology, etc.; do you have eternal life?

I will give you a link where fellow brothers can chat with you about the fundamental topic:

How to get to Heaven? (BBN)

And if we already have salvation through Jesus; may God give us grace in addressing this and other issues, recognizing that God’s mercy saved us as we were and then He started to work in us. 🙂

Hello my compatriots! I was looking for the countries were this comic have been seen and it shows that my country, Panama, is the country with more views. 😀

I find this interesting because Spanish is our official (and dominant) language but Panama is the country with more views  of the English version of this site. I have a Spanish version and there, Peru is the country with more views.

Well, thanks for follow this ongoing project and I hope that this can be useful for your Bible reading. ¡Que Dios les bendiga! 🙂

“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” John 17:3

Mt 18.6-9 Causing to stumble

This world offers a lot of stuff to cause people to stumble (browse in the Internet for a while will give us a bunch of examples) and the people who are behind it should fear the consequences they will receive. But we too, christians, should check if our acts aren’t causing fellow brothers to stumble.
Romans 14:13 “Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.”

The advice to rip off what makes us to sin is an extreme warning about how much we should detest sin.
Galatians 5:16 “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”

As we get to know the Lord more and more, his love, sacrifice for us and the blessings we receive each day; we will find hapiness in living the way he commands us and we will also care about our brothers and sisters.
Romans 14:19 “Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.”

May God give us strengths for the battles we face, and the reminder of his love and the sacrifice of his Son for us might help us to obey him, care for others and be a good example to them.
Blessings, 🙂

Mt 17.24-27 The temple tax

Jesus was right and he could have refrained from paying, but he paid to not offend others.

Sometimes we can be right but we will have to comply to others… of course, when that action is not against God will (pay the temple tax didn’t meant that Jesus was sinning against God).

May God give us wisdom to avoid acting just to show that we are right, but to act based on what will lead to peace and mutual edification. 😀

Romans 14:19 “Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.”
